Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have stated that the number of

Every year the IIHS increases its standard for
winning a TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, but more and more
automakers are stepping up to the challenge. Last year, only 39 cars earned
these designations, but now there are 72!
